The Logo

Rationale

A modern, avant-garde design to depict Malaysia (symbolised by its most renowned icon – the PETRONAS Twin Towers) as a forward-looking nation who is proud of her heritage and is optimistic about her future.

Symbol

The towers are depicted through its outline, which resembles the letter "M" for Malaysia. The jagged outline subtly resembles one of Malaysia's famous traditional handicrafts – basket weaving – thus highlighting her strong cultural values.

The triangle that symbolises the skybridge acts like a fulcrum that perfectly balances Malaysia's past and future, local values and global outlook, multi-cultural background and united 1Malaysia concept. With an upward-pointing arrow to depict growth and progress, the triangle also symbolises the Twin Towers' ideal location at the heart of the Kuala Lumpur golden triangle. It is finished in the PETRONAS Green to further emphasise that the PETRONAS Twin Towers is built by our national oil company, PETRONAS.

The logo is encapsulated in a square, like a close electric circuit, to depict connectedness.

Logotype

Uses a simple, contemporary font to create a dignified corporate air.

Planning started in January 1992, led by distinguished architect Cesar Pelli along with Deejay Cerico, J.C. Guinto and Dominic Saibo. Excavators began digging down 30 metres below the surface of the site on March 1993. The work required moving over 500 truckloads of earth every night.

The next stage was the single largest and longest concrete pour in Malaysian history. 13,200 cubic metres of concrete was continuously poured through a period of 54 hours for each tower. This record-breaking slab with 104 piles forms the foundation for each tower.

From this floor rose a 21 metre high retaining wall, with a perimeter length of over one kilometre. This concrete shell and the basement area it encloses required two years and up to 40 workers on site, all day and night.

The construction of the superstructure commenced in April 1994, after rigorous tests and simulations of wind and structural loads on the design.

The PETRONAS Twin Towers was finally encased in steel and glass and completed in June 1996.

1. What are the operational days and hours like?

VISITING DAYS : Tuesday to Sunday (CLOSED on Mondays)
VISITING HOURS : 9.00 am – 9.00 pm (CLOSED from 1.00pm – 2.30pm on FRIDAY)

2. What time does your ticket counter open?

Our ticket counters are open from 8:30am to 8:30pm, Tuesdays to Sundays. Issuance of tickets are based on a "first come, first serve" basis

3. Do you have discount arrangements for tickets and merchandises?

4. Can I make ticket bookings in advance? If so, how do I do this?

Advance bookings are allowed only for official government and school group visits. However, visitors can book visit timing slots in advance by making purchases at our ticket counters.

5. Can I buy tickets online?

We are currently working on this and should be made available to the public soon.

6. What is the total duration of the tour?

Our entire PETRONAS Twin Towers visit experience will take between 45 minutes to 1 hour.

7. Do I have to adhere to any dress codes during the visit?

There is no strict dress code for public visits.

8. Do you have facilities or services for the disabled?

Yes, of course. If you are already on-site, kindly contact any of our team members at the Concourse level for assistance. You could also inform us in advance (via email, phone call or during ticket purchase) should this arrangement is required.

9. Are we allowed to bring or consume food and drinks during the visit?

Kindly be advised that no food or drinks are allowed during the visit.

10. Is smoking allowed during the visit?

The PETRONAS Twin Towers has been declared as a "smoke-free environment". As such, smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere in the building.

11. What are the procedures in arranging for a group visit?

To make a school/college/university group request, kindly fax the request letter on your official organizational letterhead with the following information at least 3 weeks prior to the visit:

a. Preferred date & time of the planned visit
b. Number of adults & children
c. Name & contact number of 2 supervising adults.

Maximum tickets allowed for group reservation are for 40 people only.

12. Are we allowed to bring our bag packs up? If not, do you have storage facilities?

For the comfort and security of all guests, visitors are required to store their shopping bags, large bag packs and strollers in the Luggage Drop Off area located after the Check In. Belongings can be picked up when exiting.
