U.S. travelers plan more trips than last year
By Erik Bergin on May 15, 2012
High gas price does not impact travels, according to Tripadvisor.
U.S. TRAVELS. 86 percent of travelers in the United States are planning leisure trips this summer, up from 81 percent that traveled last summer, according to Tripadvisor’s annual travel survey released on Tuesday. The survey is based on more than 1,800 U.S. respondents, according to the travel site.
A separate survey pinpoints what effect the relatively high U.S. gas price has on traveler’s plans. Answers from more than 1,200 U.S. respondents, Tripadvisor writes in a press release, “showed that recently declining gas prices will not have an effect on leisure travel plans, according to 86 percent of U.S. respondents. However, 10 percent now expect to take more trips by car this summer as a direct result of lower prices at the pumps.”
