SYRIAN CONFLICT. Days after the cease-fire agreement, military forces under control of the Syrian government continued attacks in various parts of the country Friday despite having agreed to withdraw its troops from towns and cities by Tuesday, opposition groups reported according to CNN.
At least 48 people were killed around the country Friday, the group said, as the regime of President Bashar al-Assad shelled homes in the Damascus suburbs, seemingly at random, according to unverified accounts from he opposition Local Coordination Committees of Syria.
The news comes as Syria, just the other day, agreed to go along with an April 10 cease-fire, negotiated by the Special Envoy Kofi Annan, former UN chief.
