Sharks kill surfer: “Body was ripped apart”
SHARK ATTACK. Two sharks, one of which was 4 to 5 meters long according to witnesses, ripped a young surfer ‘apart’ in an attack on Thursday at Dappat se Gat, a surf spot near Gordon’s Bay also known as “Caves”, in South Africa.
The man, who was in his 20s, had severe chest injuries and his body was cut in half by the sharks, possibly Great Whites, according to News24.
“What was supposed to be a fun day at the beach turned out to be any surfer’s worst nightmare and it happened in minutes, in front of my eyes,” surfer Matt Marais said according to the Sunday Times.
The victim’s brother was believed to have been with him in the water when the great white shark, said to be between four and five metres long, killed him, the paper reports.
