By  |  0 Comments

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 shook southwestern Siberia on Sunday afternoon, AP reports. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, emergency officials said.

Residents of multistory apartment buildings said objects tumbled off of shelves, windows rattled and chandeliers swayed during the quake, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.

The earthquake, the second in the area in two months, hit about 100 kilometers east of Kyzyl, the capital of the Russian republic of Tuva, which borders Mongolia.
