AIRLINE FLIGHT CAR SALES
[dropcap]M[/dropcap]aybe it was just the question of when, not if (or why?!). We’ve all heard about the airline business’ problems, and all ideas to increase customer bases and increase profitability are good ideas, right?
So what about this one, thought out by Chinese budget airline Spring Airlines: flight car sales.
Beginning in april 2013, travelers will be able to purchase a new car onboard Spring flights, South China Morning Post reports, pointing out that the Spring, “budget carrier is becoming well-known for its innovative ideas to sell seats. For example, the airlines added four new mainland destinations to Hong Kong in November after internet ballots.”
The first batch of car models would be priced at 100,000 yuan (HK$123,000), which is considered to match the level Spring’s passengers could afford, Spring Air spokesman Zhang Wuan said to SCMP.com.
“More than 90 per cent of our passengers are white-collar workers aged 45 or below,” he explained the reasoning behind the Spring car sales.
