Namibia: Inside one of world’s largest uranium mines

By  |  0 Comments

PHOTO STORY: In the Namibian desert sits Rössing, one of the world’s largest uranium mines. The scale of the place is enormous. The mining pit is about 3 km in length and more than 100 meters deep, where the ore is mined by dynamite blasts. Right now (2010-2011 and a few years ahead) miners are working to widen the pit in order to be able to dig deeper. The uranium ore body runs 600 meters down in the ground.

Check out the pictures from this colossal industrial compound.
