LATEST TRAVEL WARNINGS
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Traveling Reporter routinely scans the news flow for travel warnings. While this is far from a complete warnings list, our latest findings might still prove useful if you are planning a trip. These warnings were gathered on March 31, 2013.

Snow melting causes travel warnings to be issued this time of the year. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security issued travel advisories, watches and warnings for several Indiana counties on Monday March 24th. There were 25 counties under a travel advisory including Vermillion, Vigo, Benton, Tippecanoe, Clinton, Cass, Tipton, Marion, Madison, Shelby, Hancock, Delaware, Decatur, Randolph, Jay, Wayne and Fayette Counties, theindychannel.com reported.

The US government has issued a travel advisory to its citizens in Kenya over the presidential election petitions filed against Uhuru Kenyatta. In the advisory, the Obama administration tells its citizens to avoid gatherings and demonstrations as the ruling on the petitions is likely to be issued on Easter weekend, standardmedia.co.ke reports. Great Britain has issued a similar advisory.

The United Arab Emirates, UAE, has warned its citizens not to travel to Iraq on hunting trips this season because of insecurity in the country, thepeninsulaqayar.com reported.

Both the US and the UK have issued warnings to its citizens regarding religious violence in Myanmar/Burmaelevenmyanmar.com reports.

“In response to serious inter-communal violence in Meiktila [the Myanmar] government has imposed a state of emergency in four townships: Meiktila, Mahlaing, Tharzi and Wundwin. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office advise against all but essential travel to these four townships and advise British nationals in the area to be on alert to any further announcements by the [Myanmar] government,” an update to the FCO’s travel alert for Myanmar read on March 27.

Italy has issued a travel warning to its citizens in India, The Telegraph reported in March, as violence in India had been reported. Read more here.
